They did it again!!

As we had that whole sh** before now Azure played the same game on us. and even worse we felt it was comming. the sims were getting less populated and it was all empty. But we thought they would let us know! how ignorant, again! Suddenly we couldn't get online anymore and with a map inspection we saw the sim was gone ................ even without telling, without a notice. Such bad business. And even worse just after we payed the tier for the week. No refunds of course.

Soooooooooo we are starting again! Because we never give up! Because we are hard-core and we rule!

Some days ago we were suddenly aware of the fact that Kitviel Silberberg was getting back online. Kitviel is the founder of TLEeducational Network. Due to a really bad experience with sim-owners and other SL related badness they had to close down all of their projects. Over 3 months it was very quiet. But ................. TLE Educational Network is coming back to Second Life. And we are very happy with that. Not only because we had a very good business-relationship with them. Mainly it's because of their profounding and never ending optimism. TLE Educational Network is a free university for anybody who has acces to the internet. They provide classes on so many different levels and interests. They publish books on a great varity off topics. By using the internet they try to bring "Art" closer to the audiance. Their World History Museum and Zoo are an interactive way to provide knowledge about our life on earth and it's history. Stay tuned on what will come soon .............

Ok I am totally flabbergasted but we are supended on Twitter. Today i got this on our account:

Well that made me read the rules and as far as I can see everybody is twittering against them. I have followers and I follow people but not to spam them. Told ya that we are working on something new? Long, Long time ago Fred was a DJ in SL. But the DJ-ing got him into a lot of drama. So after we ended up he slowly got out of that. Not that I wanted him too but he did. I know he misses it. He knows so much about music. He also is capable to make wonderfull sets. he can capture his feeling at that moment with the music he chooses. So after me nagging on him he decided to get back. Well if he has time for it. So we decided to get out the factory and remodel it. It's becoming a great club. It won't have the purpose to get it running for the whole week. It will be a place where Fred can run his sets and maybe some of his friends will have some sets there aswell............. it's a growing thing and we don't have excact idea of what it will going to be.we will go with the flow! We will anounce our sets through facebook and twitter become friends with us and you will know when it is happening. It will be impromtue and there will be no real timeing for it. Just for enjoying music and having fun together!

I guess a lot of you never even heared of it. DSB-bank in Holland is in deep deep s***. And as I may say that's even understatement. I am not going into details here but a lot of people are having deep financial problems because of this 'bank'. A marketing-guy in Holland thought it would be a good idea to start a crawdsourcing project on this. to make a movie. From the people, about the people and towards the people. Everybody that thinks he can add his/her knowledge to any of the contests that will be set can join. And here comes our way of joining this project. We decided do make a logo in one of the first contest that they are having. Even made a funny annimatedgif for it .............................

What are QR-Codes?

I was wandering along the web. Ever heared of QR codes?? Well I didn't. So I asked Fred if his HTC touch-and-I can-do everything-Thingie had the possibilitie to read these codes too. And just as me he never heared of it before. Its something that has popped over from Japan. They use it on everything. But what is it?? It's a 2-D graphic mobile phone readable barcode. On most newer mobile phones these readers are already installed. If it isn't installed yet you can find any of them on the web.
But what can you do with it?? As said before it's a barcode. You take a picture of it with your mobile and with the QR-Code reader you can read what it has in it. This can be anything as from text to url's. Funny textes but also adresses of your business whatever you like to get in. Online there are generators that will help you to make one. So what's the gadget................... you get a QR code somewhere you are publishing something. Somebody else takes a picture of it with his/her mobile and get's the message directly. Or they will get the URL right away and get directed to it if they are online. It's a whole new way and I even read that there are car's in Switzerland driving around with QR-codes on it. While you are waiting at the lights to get green you take a picture and get the information they want you to get!

Maybe it's because I choose a name that was close to my own. I was playing Ceasar and on the forums when people dragged me into SL. So that's why i came up with AEster. When I started to read about ma- chinima it was one of the first things I stumbled into. I guess it's something a lot of people already know. I am as always slow and late with things. I am 1011 days old an just found out about X-cite parts (no kidding 0-0) Torley made outstanding very fast to use and instant giving effects. They are great to use with your photographing or machinima. As I made some pictures for Mynt the effect is very well showing off there. Our shop started it's Second Life!!!!!

So here it is our new shop!!!! We dusted the houses, cleaned the ship and vacuumed the beach. It took us almost the whole weekend to set the whole lot of it. Well of course we needed some working platforms too and we needed to get up the workingbox aswell.
But it's all set and done now. up and running. what more metafores can I use.......... come and have a peek soon.

Oh and I just kept outof the view the giant kangeroo that is on our neighboursclub :)) I think they are Aussies but I ain't sure. Did I mention again that http://azureislands.com/ did a wonderfull job to help us out so quickly?? we are very thankfull to them.

You know those url's that are like 9 sentences long. You want to share something with somebody else but instead of that you get an url that is almost as long as a novel. These are also very hard if you want to add something in twitter because they limited the space you can use for each tweet you get out. To prevent you from any headaches about this there are some great services out there. You can easily paste your-almost-like-a-novel-long-url and by a simple click you get a very small easily to share or tweet url.
On my search I found several on the web. just check them out and try wich one works the best for you. I got it in my shortcuts and use it all the time now ..................... There are probably more on the web. and I have even heared some browsers have add-ons for it. Google your way here are already 3 of them

Update on the 'Deleted sim'

As for yesterday it was kindof a shock. We had to take sudden actions and. Today when I got online I got a notecard from the company that owns the sims that are still up. Appearently the following has happened .................................
The Holding we rented our sim was a company in Second Life since 2006. They were fully payed by renters inworld and the Tier was due in L$. Somehow the holding got into trouble. And they weren't be able to pay their debts. some of their sims they leased from another holding in SL and the other part was fromLL using the usual methods. Because of the problems, those have never been cleared, the owner was found bancrupt on October the 15th 2009. On the strength unpayd tier LL reclaimed 40 (!!!!!!!!) of the sims owned by them and after a good analysis the other company found themselves with no other choise then to take back the ownership of the sims they were leasing. Appearently we were on one of the LL sims they took back. LL gave us 24 ours to take our stuff. Unforunatly we were not here at that time. So for us nothing is left then to submit a ticket to get back the stuff. The company that took back the ownership of their sims is offering help of course but they need time for it. But as yesterday got very clear ....................... nobody will get their payed tiers back.
A good lesson out of this is: never pay tier upfront too much. Unless you cannot avoid it of course like when you are going away for holidays but in every othercase just pay it weekly ........ then you never will get yourself in situations like this. Unfortunatly there are a whole lot of people that had to learn this lesson in a very bad way and I am very sorry for that ...........................

A continuing story ............................

Asof the fact that we were out of land for our shop and we desperately needed to find something new we got a great idea. Frederic contacted the owners of our 'building and living' land Ursae: http://www.azureislands.com/
They were very helpfull and within 40 minutes we got a new landoffer on one of their commercial zoned sims.
So we didn't have to think long about it. They were very kind and we could move in rightaway ..................
Because we accepted we had a busy evening. Everything had to be removed of the old parcel and need to be rebuild on the new. Including working-box, platforms and yes OMG yes we are working on our latest -InSync- project aswell. Altho it will not be public knowledge yet.

At least the shop is up and running .........................

Deleted Sim!

As we have been away from SL for some days it was quite weird to receive this notecard:

Unfortunately even the world's greatest empires have endured hard times. These times are no exception. Due to the current economic status of the world and Second Life, it has become increasingly difficult to sustain 50 sims. *** Holdings will continue to exist, but we must take one step back in order to take two steps forward. If you wish to remain a part of our family at ***, we will be happy to relocate you to our original estate in the *** sims. Thank you for being a loyal part of ***. Here's to a bright future.

Well it was even worse. We didn't read that one ............... it was sent yesterday and today we got this as a last notice:

*** is disovled right now due to non payment to LL, if you are a displaced *** used be tenant, this is all that can be offered to you, Tenants from *** want to be relocated, ** can do that, 0 l to buy land but they need to pay tier. Anything else you need to place a ticket to LL concerning.

So basically we are without a land for our shop. I do hate this kind of disputes tho. They cannot have decided this as from once. They knew about this all. So why not inform people in front?? Why not help them with relocating. With making sure people weren't paying tier to long in front?? that is one side of the story. The other side is that we are without any rights. LL won't get in between.

We're sorry: Linden Lab cannot verify, enforce, certify, examine, uphold, or adjudicate any oath, contract, deal, bargain, or agreement made by the Residents of Second Life. Please contact the Resident with whom you have a dispute, and request that they make good on the deal. InSync started to Twitter!!!. Twitter seems a strange medium. I can't say what it will bring InSync. But somehow it seems like it is another way to meet on the web. But the more I get into this the less I understand. sometimes I read things, I read it another time and even at the third or a fourth time it still seems like an Korean Ikea Manual to me.

Machinima, a new place to discover

I suddenly realised I have never even tried to make a movie in SL. It seems to be possible so I had to find out a lot. Of course there is the abfab Torley Linden with the most fantastic tutorials I have ever seen in SL. But heck that's why he gets payed for it I guess :) So after a day of swearing and shouting (that's quite normal when I start something new I don't have the patience to learn) I came up with something. So here it is!!! The first InSync machinima. It's a promo for our TinCan.

This time I wanted to know why my animated gif images didn't work on our blog. As we make also animated gif's wich we use for various things in SL. I was wondering why I couldn't get them working on the blog. And after a 'google' around the world I found a rather good tutorial for it.

This year we are in time!! I am the most awfull planner one could even imagine. Every year I get the most wonderfull, inventive and creative idea's to make AFTER the holidays. I thougth of an SteamPunk Egg AFTER easter. I Thought of a heart-emmitting love cardAFTER V-Day and this way I can add some of my great idea's ...................... all after the days they supposed to be for! But not this years Halloween. This time we were involved in the making off a new logo for Nico1000 Twine's new club. As she already had a name and the club was already builded it was just to find out whatever she wanted the club to feel like. It is always a challenge to 'get' the right feeling. it's important to visitors that go into search or look at your picks. This time I got some neat new ideas with a glowing, neon kinda look. Inworld we set the boards even to have a green light and when get your settings to midnight it looks awesome. In addition to this we even made some quite well working annimated textures. And when you become a member you even get to wear the kewl MyntMembershipCard! Curious?? Follow the mynty's...............................

WeddingCards for Jeret and Kourtland

We like to make Wed-ding Cards. Fred and I will never do the marry thingie in SL but that doesn't matter in here:) Most of the time we ask the bride and groom to handover some of their pictures. I (*AE*) am not good at taking pictures. SL Photography is a real art and I am not into that one. So in this case we asked my sister Kourtland and her soon to be husband Jeret to provide me some pictures wich they did. From there we made 4 different cards and they have choosen one of them. As said they provided the picture themselves. As a weddingpresent we gave them their thank- you cards. The picture on that on was providid by Phrosmai Nosov. And I think that these cards only look this good just because of that wonderfull picture. It is amazing. I think that here has been discovered a great artist.

YES. As I told before Fred isn't back yet (well he wasn't when i wrote this) and all I can do is wander along Second Life. I am feeling sorry for my self, why doesn't anybody love me ................................ The place I popped up makes that feeling even grow. It's Wastelands. And it looks how it sounds. One big dump, streets got broken during the war. You see houses standing in the almighty desert now while they obviously have been builded on the sides of a mighty lake that now has been dried out. It certainly is a deserted piece of the earth. Were people go that have lost their believes in hapiness. The end of the world. Go and wander, see yourself. I love their own description tho they say it with better words then I can:

October Island Wastelands is a 1940's post-apocalyptic nuclear fallout sim. Playing old time radio horror.

Check your insurence before you go because you will never know if you will come out healthy I don't know what they keep in those barrels .....................

Fun things to do in Second Life

OK now I am really getting weird. Altho ................... I like fishing in RL too. Yes this post is about fishing. Have you ever tried that in SL? 7seas has a great yeah what shall I call it ................. thingie for it. You get a vendor, get bait and a rod (you can even adjust it to what you are wearing at the moment really nice for fashion addicts lol). Now you are ready and here you go.................. fun part is of course to do it with others. But I like doing it on my own too. It's kindof relaxing and it is fun to search for the rare and extraordinairy fishies. Sometimes you get bikini's or whatever. Or the obvious tires. But there are a lot of fun fishies, you can wear them and even give them a name. What about a Shrimpcoctail???

I digged in my inv for a nice picture that I took at the headquarters, that's where you have to go to get all the stuff. Really you should give it a try its fun relaxing and you make new friends easily (if you like to talk about fish of course) ..................... take the rowboat and have a look.

I found a real Jewel and I advise you to go and have a look at it quickly before it has gone again. IBM is giving people the opportunity to exhibit in SL. This time it is Bryn Oh that picked up the towel. Its the story of the Rabbicorn. As you click the teleporters you wander along the story. Static views with the story in a poem .................. it's excellent. It's marvelous it is ................ I have no words to express what kindof experience this is. You wil have to have a look at it before it has gone again. I don't know untill what date this is running.

As I wrote yesterday SL is a bit of a weird place for me atm. Fred isn't around and things have changed majorly here for me. So I need to find back my balance. Beside that I really would like to create something. My fingers are itching and I open up my photoshop a dozen times a day. But everytime I end up staring at it with no inspiration at all. Suddenly I knew what i needed to do. I needed to get some good quality relaxing time. That made me remember this place. The Inspire Space Park. It is a galaxy related sim. It makes you feel like Amstrong and aldrin a bit ................ The meditation and tai chi is such a releaf and truly relaxing. With the music on and the envirement set to midnight it's just perfect. and as I am writing this and look at myself carrying out the slow tai chi movements I feel getting some inner rest and I think it is time for me to open up the templates again ............................................

Easily Bored!!

OK I admit I am easily bored. Fred is on his yearly holiday and I am wand-ering. After been away for 2 weeks too. It's a bit strange to return. SL doesn't seem the same. I know that has other reasons too and I am not gonna forfill your search after drama here so I won't say anything about that. Knowing that I am easily bored it is strange that I always return to the same places. One of those is 'The Lost Gardens Of Apollo" This place is builded by Dane Zander. It's a rather busy visited sim but still you can wander without running into too many people. It's been here since 2005 and I think that's amazing for SL. I have so many LM in my inventory that are no longer the beautifull places that they once were. Some of them have turned into malls or ugly beaches. Don't take me wrong I love the beach. But I am just not so much into the Hawaian Beach thingie. Back to 'Apollo'.

It's a PG rated sim. And the rules are strict. I am gratefull for that because I think that provides people rest and tranquility. I visit this place since a long time, on and off, and I have never been harrased by anybody. But maybe I just scare people off ....................................

They provide guided tours in 9 different languages. I never took one, I prefere to be suprised by what I see. And there is a lot to see believe me. I turn my view to midnight and with the music on it takes you away. I love to wander here all alone. It's not a place were you need to go with your loved one ........................... it's just breathtaking on it's own special way.

Exploring Second Life

Have you ever been to the Kowloon sim???? It's like you are lost in Far East City. not that I have been ever there but still I think they look like this. Some people will say it looks like some grungy game but I don't even know those names either ....................... So it's just an honost opinioun about what I saw. The place is best to be viewed in midnight of course. Fred and I wandered along the place and ended up in playing hide and seek there and it was totally awesome. Altho I cheeted bigtime by searching for him with the map locator :)

just go and have a look it's nice to have this in SL :)

We finally were able to finish our own project. Because we have been busy so much working fro TLE Educational Network our building was getting less attention. And although we like to build for TLE we also like to make our own things. Frederic and I have a kindof strange way to start with new projects. We start to look around the web at RL pictures. At RL buildings that inspire us. We are sending urls over to each other and slowly it starts to grow in our heads. The -InSync- TinCan is an inspiration on a building but rather more on a tincan that is rolling on it's side. The textures make that imagination even more complete. Next to that we have been able to use animated textures aswell. They are so much fun to make. The -InSync- TinCan is a 5 floor building. The hallway has a nice dark and welcoming feeling. Next floor has a small mezanine. The third floor is dominated by the two big turning gears on both sides of the windows. They are animated and give the room something majestic. The 4th floor is almost as big as the 3rd and leads up to the roofroom. this one has two big sliding, stained glass doors/windows wich can be opened by a mouseclick. It can be your terras under the shining stars. The TinCan has all handmade textures and scripts. Due to our smart way of using textures and building skills the primusage is very low.

Design Tutorial: Were To Find Recourses

To make either logo's or textures for your buildings or to make any other graphic-design you will need to have recourses. First thing you will need to know is that you need to be aware of any copyinfignement. You are only allowed to use any photo's of the web if they especially give permissions to allow you to use it. There are of course also the 'payed' websites wich provide a wide range of photo's video's and vectors. But as SL ins't a very big recourse of money right away you can start to search for free photo's out there. And since I am from Holland I have a nose for free stuff. We never pay to much even worse we try to get it for free.

There are several different things you can use within either textures or logo's or your other designs. Since one year I am also trying to make a living of making webdesigns so I became a memeber of the glossy 'WebDesigner'. Each month they provide a cd with nice content you are free to use. Fonts, brushes, photo's, gradients, shapes you name it and they give it. But since not everyone is buying this I will provide some of my resources. I am a user of photoshop so that is what my resources provide me.

* One of my great providers is 'LadyOak', after you made an account (very easy) you can get the greatest shapes, brushes, excellent gradients and all kind of styles. You will need to have a look at their site because it is really great.

*Since it's beginning long time ago 'Obsedian Dawn' has become one of the biggest recourses with photoshop brushes I have ever seen. They are really great! some of them are even wonderfull and stunning.

* Because Frederic builds the most incredible buildings we often need some very specific textures. And because I don't like that fact that we would use any SL free textures (nor will I pay for anytexture) I will have to make them myself. I use various sources for those. But only completely legal ones. For the Haunted House I used colorlovers. There you can make wonderfull patterns yourself with the colors you like. it's a great recourse in anyway.

*As a LogoMaker I often need a nice font to make it complete. Sometimes it takes sometime to find the thing you are excactly looking for. 1001 Free fonts has a lot of different styles. easily downgraded by style or by name. The majority of fonts on this website are freeware, but a small percentage are shareware so if you decide to keep any shareware fonts please register them. Registration information can be found on the readme.txt file attached

Just remember in any case that there are so many recources out there but always stay within the rules and don't use things people don't want to share. It's not legal and it's no fun!!!

I always said we should have something funny for our customers. But then Frederic always replied with : yes dear, but what dear! Then I always answered: ............erm I don't know. I didn't want to make a tattoo, or a T-shirt. We have been thinking of making a a doghouse or a gardenshed. But somehow we never got something truely right. Untill Frederic had a grumpy day. He didn't want to DJ didn't want to build didn't want to allign textures all of this was making him even more grumpy. So he started to do something out of the blue. And right before my eyes it grew. Turbojets, 3 chairs, engines ................... he started to ask me for some textures. And together we made this FunJet happen. Together with a great build-in script it can fly and move you and your friends around. We use it a lot, to show people around our buildings. Therefore it is beside fun usefull too. come and grab yours at our shop it cannot be the price why you are still hesitating???!!!!

Second Life's 6th Birthday-Event

We have been working with Ktiviel Silberberg now for several weeks. His way and ours are very simular. We say what we like, what we dislike but most of all we have great respect for each others idea's. So when TLE Educational Network asked us to make their representive building for Second Life's 6th Birthday-Event we were quite honored. We had to make a centerpiece on a plot not bigger then 30 to 30. This time we were restrained to the rules LL set for all the sims that are going to host this big event. Allow me to copy and paste a little bit of the story. Then you will have an idea of what the feeling will be.

"800 Light Years away we are spiraling through outer space on a Meteor disovered by Space Explorer Ghorman Dallier in 2499 while searching for new worlds to inhabit! Although we're too far away from the sun to see it and any flora has to be kept in an AEC (Artificial Environment Chamber.) we still know how to throw a party!"

Lacie and Des Wedding

My wonderfull friend Lacie and Des had the most awfull wedding you can even imagine. If you are able to cope with that as a couple you can cope with everything. They had to suffer from RL sickness, SL made it almost impossible to be there as a guest. They had a tough time. But as they love eachother deeply they continued and they got married. And to let everybody know that they were very sorry for all the inconvenience they sended out a thank-you-and-we-are-sorry note and -InSync- made the graphics!

Since some weeks we are involved in some bigger projects. When Kalli Birman introduced us to Kitviel Silberberg we couldn't have expected what that would bring us. Kitviel runs (together with a dedicated team) a very inspiring and unique university on SL: The Learning Experience. This is a free university that provides lessons in a range of different subjects. Our project was as unique as Kitviel is. We had to produce a new Main Campus and Admin-building. Kitviel is an openminded projectmanager and besides the fact that he had clear ideas regarding the usability of the building he let us totally free in our creativity. It's a pleasure to work like that and the fact that we had our strings towards the usibility didn't restring us in our desire to make a fairly unusual building. The building will be used for different purposes. There is a groupsroom, a classroom and it contains the students-corner on the roof. The colours are bright and it just makes you happy to see a building like this. As you are probably reading this we are busy with our newest project .................... want to have a look? SL Exploring: Port Babbage

It is always hard to find a nice place to explore. it fully depends of course of what you like to see. our views are always colored by the fact of building. We like Steampunk very much. It gives us the creativity to think out of the box. To make things that wouldn't be possble to have in RL but because of our virtual possibilities we can make them look like if they were real. The Babbage's sims are places were you can see what you actually can name Steampunk. These sims are really nice to wander in with nice buildings, there are shops too and it has a very alive community with a great website. It is an option to RP but it's not strictly asked for. Start your exploration at Port Babbage and wander over all three of them.............................

Both are worth to visit in your virtual explorations.

Another project has come to an end. The factory is ready to be sold and we boxed the whole lot of it. It is a grungy factory. Kids threw in all the windows. There are fires all over to keep the place a bit warmed. The animated textures with gears and clocks make it look even more real. There is plenty space to have your rawking party’s. The Loft can be your special place to be with your loved one. Windows can be closed or half-closed. Next to that the both big roofs can be multifunctional to. Make it your terras-garden, danceplace or your breakfast-outside spot. Doors are squeeking and for those who are bad with stairs there is an elevator with animations. The Steamplant Factory has been build with our own sculpties and textures. Except for the stairs everything is homemade and custombaked.

They wanted to celebrate their Evane Model Graduation ................. Therefor she asked me to make an artists board and a banner and just before the whole lot was about to start her TP-point got borked and she needed impromptu some: This Way signs ................... I was only hanging out and not very productive anyway so I opened photoshop rightaway and got the job done. At least I can rez a board so that I even could do it without any help from Frederic. Katelynn Dastardly has one of the sweetest and greatest clubs in SL. So when she asked us to build it we were right up to all of it. Fred has done a great job and he even started to learn things about texturing wich makes the whole project look absolutely fabulous.!!!!!!

Exploring SL: The Magic of Oz

We aren't enough exploring SL. We are way to much into building. Sometimes we make time to have some fun with my family. Bri and Jade are my two SL sisters and Bub is my Brother In Law (aka BIL). We have Visited the Magic of Oz. And as we were fully dressed up it's a fun sim. It wasn't easy to find every costume and because i thought most of the scarecrow suits didn't look very well I decided to make one for Frederic. They created most of the movie places and of course you will need to 'follow the yellowbrick road'.

it is a very nice place to wander and have some fun with your friends. Most funny was Jade alias TinMan her walk was hilarious and her convo's made us crank up. As always our eyes and ears were open and at this place we found the magical-animated-textures. Once a builder always a builder ............................

When we were exploring Second Life once we found something we never saw before. Well We probably did see it before but we didn't ever thought of what it was or how it was made. But when you are creating things in SL you get a weird eye for things. What we basically saw was a animated texture. It was on on side of a prim and it moved. After some googling we basically found out that this was a scripted texture................

As of the fact that I have made banners in RL before I know how to make an animated gif wich is the actual base for this gadget. Since we are building a factory at the moment we decided that these animations would be a perfect match .........

While they were trying to build up their sim to get it ready for the Grand Opening suddenly they came up with a new idea. If we would be able to make a Missisippi Steamboat ........................ Well certain things you shouldn't ask Fred. And one of the things is: Could you make ...............? He was right on the project. He digged up some photo's of his own. Went on the web and before I even could blink half of the boat was already builded. All he could add was: I need good textures!!!! Sometimes you cannot stop him, not even me. So he dragged me to photoshop to bake all the textures and we did it again.

Da Vinci Isle is so generous not to make it a one piece. So we will be able to resell it and you will be able to make it yours too.

Marketing Tutorial: Answers!

As we just started to sell our buildings and graphic-designs I cannot say that we are doing bad. We have had several jobs lately. Did a lot of marketing and I really think it is working out very well. Today I stumbbeled on a great blog (handed over by some-one to be honost)VirtualBusiness.com. I started to read imediatly. It's clear it's very easily written and I think it has some great idea's. Point is that it makes you think on how you can improve your business. It makes you review your own actions.

Lets' try to review our business within the blog-items:

** Be Unique**

As in our case I do think that we are selling a unique product. Our buildings are very different from others. We want them to look like if you can find them in RL too. We try to improve and get better with every building!!!! We only add features that are neicesary to the houses. Some of them are quite without any because it was just like that. others have more gadgets because they need those. I think we are quite Unique at SL.

**Be Intuitive**

I so love the sentence Todd used: "Keep essential instructions brief - People don’t read instructions. Therefore the large majority of your product’s features should either be 1) easy to figure out or 2) optional and does not get in the way."

Blah Blah is the worst you can get in SL. That is why we have a short note in our products. You need to know how you can set the teleporter, you need to know how you can reset some scripts and you need to know who to call if there is anything wrong. Our Notes Are Brief!!! nothing more, nothing less.

As for now we aren't selling a big amount. So if we get a request or a question we are almost imediatly able to get out there and help the people. Eventhough I was quite stunned about the fact that you can have your IM-s to your mail forwarded and that they doesn't get capped by that..................................

**Create Strong Emotions**

Well that's a hard one to talk about. I can honostly say that I am insecure about that. Our Logo Perfectly matches the things we want to say. We are working together InSync: Fred Builds and together we make the textures for it. But to be honost I am still trying to figure out how I can get a kindof one great look for our designs. But with the product it is hard to get an outstanding view.

** Create Long Lasting Value**

I don't think our houses should get any updates. There will simply be new other and more strange ones to find out about. SL isn't really the place to get long value items I think. people are more into getting the newest and the coolest gadgets. so it will be more a matter of suprising them with new and improved items ......................

As I have been thinking about this all i have decided to make a customers survey to ask what people really think of out product, services. i will let you know how that worked out if I get some of them back ..................

Grand Opening Da Vinci Isle

As From Saturday Feb 14th Da Vinci Isle has opened. -Insync- was able to make their gift and freebie for it. They wanted to have a cigarbox with their logo, to handout cigars. This sounds like a rather easy thing to make. If it wasn't that Frederic has high standards. First the cigars had to be wearable. So they needed to look like real. He made them look real!!

As I provided the textures he made the darn things look great. They have ash coming from the tip. They glow up and the smoke is InSync with that. They look wonderfull. It made us also aware of some new scripting and even I tried to figure out how it works and eventually we did it together.

Next to all of this we had to make the box very low prim of course because every SL-er knows that it has to look great but it has to be low prim too.

Be sure you often visit da Vinci isle because their events change all the time!!!!!

Da Vinci Isle has opened as from today. As known it has a big affliation with art. Besides giving RL and SL artist the opportunity to have exhibitions there are more ways to come in contact with art. As from now the Bookworm Cafe will have as they call it in Paris 'Café de Theatre' you will be able to sit together and have the chance to hear poetry in all it's beauty.

-InSync- created the logo. we tried to give the cafe it's own look but stayed with the Da Vinci Isle-feeling.

Marketing Tutorial: How To get Your name Branded in SL

I am in no way a marketing guru. What I am about to write here is just something I am trying at the moment. These comments or idea's are in no way a must but I think it is working very well for us at the moment so that is why I wanted to share it with you.

As we are building big things we would need a big space to sell our things. So we still don't have that. most of the houses we have builded we live in. so through IM people could see it. that isn't ideal but we are for now not sure it will be of any use to buy a plot to get our houses on.

If we get something new I use the following steps to get it known out there.

* First is off course the packaging and listing in XStreet. I try to use a simular way to make all the selling photo's we get onto Xstreet aswell.

*As it is out there I make a post at the What is New @ blog. this is a great way to get out your new made items.

*Then I add it to our own blog aswell. with links all over the place of course.

*I also have a Flickr-Account. I post photo's about our buildings our sellings and about fun thins aswell. But Flickr has a very big Second Life community. So there are hundreds of groups out there. They give you the opportunity to join and to add photo's. That makes it possible to join specific groups that can give you specific customers and lovers of what you make. In this case I joined groups like SL-Steampunk community, builders and photographers groups.

*Next to that I joined some blogs of people that arein SL too and who are bloggin about specific subjects. For exsample the New Babbage community.

*I always wandered a lot around the SL forums. There is a big community behind that. It gives you so much opportunities. To see whatever others do, what they make, what they want to learn and most of it want to share with you. it is a great way to exhibit your items there as well to find people that could need your knowledge or help.

All that you want to do is to get to be known. that people will ask you for help. that people want to do business with you. Untill now we did most of our jobs through people we already knew. But as we are expanding more poeple will know us and will be able to find us. we are in the lucky position that we have had very nice assignments untill now. But most important thing off all is that we are doing this because we like to do it. It is our passion, it runs through our vains ................. we are -InSync-

-Opening Soon- Da Vinci Isle

-Insync- has done some major jobs for the brand new sim: Da Vinci Island. They will be having their grand-opening on 14 February 2009. Da Vinci Isle is an exhibition and events center. Keywords are: exhibition centre, displaying of art (inworld aswell as 1stlife) paintings, artists and of course there will be possibility to buy the art too.

One of the first assignments was to get their logo out. We created a logo with the feel of art, of Da Vinci Isle and to make give it a clean look aswell.

Design Tutorial: Logo's and Fonts

Logo making is a passion of me. I haven’t really had classes for it but I can say that I have learned a lot in the past. I am self-made. That does not mean that designing is just a matter of ‘good’ taste or an Eye for this kind of things.

There are important rules eventhough there is a lot to say about taste.

As the blogtitle implicaties in this part of the tutorial I want to say something about fonts.

There are several typefaces in fonts:

Each of them says something about their styles. This is important to know because it can give you a clue about the style that the customer wants to bring over to the client.

Genuinly we use Roman Typefaces and they can be devided in several subfaces.

Serif Typefaces are named for the features at the ends of their strokes. Times Roman, Garamond are very common examples of serif. They give a very classic, traditional and formal look to your design.

Sans Serif typefaces are relatively new in the historie of typografy. Well known and popular are Arial, Helvetica and Futura. They give designs a very modern and clean look.

Script Typefaces simulate handwriting. They are mostly not used to do enorm amounts of body tekst. They can be used for logo’s or invitations. Script typefaces can be hard to read so that is surely something you need to focus on if you want to use one of these. Often they look very elegant and feminine.

These are the main typefaces but there are many more. Like ornamentals wich contain only decorative or symbols as characters. In monospaced typefaces all of the characters have the same width. They are used when excact spacing is required. An example of this is Courier.

You will have to consider all the typefaces when you want to make a logo. It will be of importante to know what typeface will give what implication to your design. In other words like a grunge typeface won’t work for a lawyer-logo.

The logo needs to look as one, as something well overthought and a good logo can be ruined by a wrong font!

Habitats by J&B, wich are Jade Eiren and Bubster Box, have decided that they wanted to sell their Habitats in SL. The provided logo -InSync - made had to give an idea of what they sell.

So what do they sell?? Habitats are spaces that provide a fairytale of its own. They are founded on a DomeShape and inside of that they created a habitat. This way you can have your mermaid-lagoon, your fairytale-forrest or your winter wonderland at every place you are able to rez it. They will each come in 2 sizes..40x40 and 22x22besides that they included gadgets like mermaid AO's, skates and many things more.

The Logo gives an idea of the habitatshape and the feeling of what's inside of it.

I wanted to give an idea and I searched the web and came up with the SteamPunk TreeHouse. when we got that boxed and out on Xstreet it was Frederic's turn for an idea again. We both like the book and movies with 'The Lord of The Rings' saga's. and after some idea's Frederic had his inspiration with the Bag End houses that are at Hobbiton, the place were both Frodo and Bilbo Baggins live. Of course we just took the idea and turned into our own fantasy. And as we were building and texturising the flood of idea's started and we were barely be able to stop it. The house is build around a big main tree. It's roots are part of the big living area. Sun is shining through the sweet wooden windows and brighten up the floor in it's lovely pattern. This house gives you the feeling like that you are part of mother nature. You are surrounded by rocks and plants. The big terrace at the upperfloor is imbedded and enclosed and makes you feel secure. The box comes with the main rock-green-texture so you can add some of it to the house surroundings. It is easy rezzable with the Faux-Rez. As you probably are reading this we are already making our next project wich will be fun again .................................................

We made this tipjar on request. It was fun to make and she is for sure making money with it. Everytime somebody pays it it will give a yellow burst of particles. It was fun to make and it is for sure fun to use. If you want one and want it customized with your own text or name give us an IM.

What can I say ...... this is the most amazing project we ever did. I once lived in a treehouse in SL and I always enjoyed that. It just reminds you of your childhood. I know that sounds so heavy but to me SL isn't more then playing barbies or actionman. We had some rough idea's when we started. In the beginning it was a simple platform, some roots and a tree. But it became a wonderfull trip. We aked the best of the both of us. Fred is always thinking out of the box and the handmade textures completed this. It is so much fun to walk around in this Treehouse. The changing pathways. The movable bridges. The amazing sounds and not to forget the hidden rooms wich you enter by the openable 'notso secret' hedges ......... This house is never dull. Rooms can be fully private. Playing tag is just too much fun here ...................And if you are in a very romantic mood: you can dance under the moonlight at the top platform.

The Haunted House was already halfway build when Fred showed it to me the first time. It was also the kick-start of working together. At first he was building and I was looking cute. Well at least I could try ...................... but I got quickly bored with that. It's awfull to virtually 'stand' next to somebody who doesn't speak unless you calll mumbling numbers speaking and who's keyboard is rattling like an angry rattlesnake. Then he said that he needed a texture for the inside and I offered my help. It worked out great. Fred was building, thinking outloud about what he would like and I tried to visualise his thoughts. That is how we still work together.

The Haunted House was a very special project because we had to change a lot of the textures everytime. And eventhough we didn't know eachother very well we had a deadline to finish it. It made us see that we could work together. Even under stress.........

Fred was already building long before I knew him. Of course his textures wheren't that faboulous as they are now (just kidding ...........) Obviously his love for SteamPunk was already there. The first time he took me to his home I didn't even know what SteamPunk was............... so I had to google that first. And of course i didn't tell him otherwise he would think I was/am utterly stupid.

Thankfully Wiki knows something about it ..................................

We have lived in it with fun untill we finished the SteamPunk Treehouse.

As I prolly never mentioned (and it is totally boring and it doesn't even interest you at all) Fred and I met at the SubClub where my Sis Jade and my BIL (Brother In Law) where ruling. Fred was a DJ and I liked to hang out with my family there. One of the things a DJ need to have is of course a tipjar. And Fred who is still an excelent DJ (for now is totally addicted to building) had made his own. It's a ............................. well you can see what it is. Sometimes I just ask myself what he is thinking 0-0.............................madman!!

After having a serious break-down with the clothes-making-business. I started to get back on track because I just like doing it so much. Eventhough I don't have much time for it and InSync is asking a lot of time I still have my own business. But it needed some refreshments too. So here is the new *AE* Logo.

When we just met we didn't even know we had so much in common. Fred was building the Haunted House and was in need of some textures. When he introduced me to the people that asked for the building he called me his personal texture-maker. Wich was totally bull-shit because I never had made one single texture in my life. at least not one to texture a building. But as he was building and I was harrassing him all the time. Then he asked me to make a texture. and I am so sure he did because he was fed up with my witty remarks. So I said I would give it a try ......................... And I made another one and another one and even then another one. After finishing it we did a while nothing but we started a new project, and another and another and before we knew we where having kinda of a what you can call a business.

So we were in need of a logo. We had both some rough times. And we felt completely Synchrone with each other. Ofcourse we fight ..................... call each other bad names ...................... but after all we always get back InSync. The Logo represents that feeling. It is a kindof merge of two ying-yang figures. Representing the two individuals we are and together we create beauty ......................
